Dr. Kristine Myers-Stuenkel
Dr. Myers has been a beloved, local veterinarian since 2005. It wasn’t always clear what she wanted to be when she grew up, but once the opportunity came, it consumed her life forever.
An interest in the animal medical profession was not a surprise to those that knew her due to the love of the family dog, Bogie she so begged to have. A big part of her path was set by her father, who pushed her to “be something with all those good grades”.
Her animal experience began at the age of 18, as an animal shelter worker. Working for the local animal shelter was one of the most rewarding times in her career. She cared for debilitated, malnourished, unkempt, abused, unsocialized cats and dogs and loved every bit of it. The shelter veterinarian at the time encouraged her to seek employment at a veterinary clinic for more experience.
She married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, the same year she began working for a local veterinary clinic. The 5 doctor practice gave her the 6 years of experience she needed to pursue her career and to apply to vet school.
Acceptance to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts began in 2001. It was a tough 3 years away from husband and family but an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. The amazing experience of living in a 3rd world country, classmates and professors from all around the U.S., and amazing hands on experience Ross University provided was unlike any other education. Her last clinical year she attended the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine, followed by employment at a local veterinary clinic.
In 2006 she gave birth to her son Joey, her little veterinarian in training. Life was never so good with this wonderful addition to the family. On November 19th, 2012, Myers Mobile Animal Clinic was established. A mobile veterinary clinic was a vision Dr. Myers had for many years to meet the needs of her clients and patients. Since then “For the care they deserve”, will continue to be the approach to every case, every appointment, every time.
I have always been an animal lover. At the age of 7 I wanted to be a veterinarian but after studying Zoology at SIUC for 4 years and realizing chemistry wasn’t my thing, so I decided any animal care would be fine. I have worked in the animal field for over 20 years now. To date I have managed a pet store, been a full time zookeeper, an animal educator, assistant at 20 doctor practice in California and now with Dr. Myers as lead technician.
I have 2 kitty cats Princess Kitty, Maxie, and The General Bobbie Lee, named by Alise, my 11 year old daughter. I got married in September of 2015 to a wonderful guy named James and loving married life!
I have been with Dr. Myers since her practice started back in 2012. Words I love to live by are, “if you love your job you will never work a day in your life”, that hold true with this job
Certified Veterinary Technician
I started my journey with Myers Animal Clinic in March of 2017 right after I graduated from Brown Mackie College with an Associates of Science degree and passing my VTNE in December of 2016 earning the title of Certified Veterinary Technician. I have a Siberian Husky named Neeka. She is 5 years young and my child. I enjoy spending a majority of my time with Neeka, but also enjoy the outdoor activities like four wheeling, fishing, biking and throwing a football every now and then.
“Animal have always been a big part of my life and I am very blessed to have found not only such an amazing practice to work for, but an amazing team to be a part of as well.”
Although I had worked with Dr. Myers previously, I came on in November 2014 as a full time receptionist. I said, “I had enough of the corporate grind and wanted to do something that brought joy into my life and working with animals lets me do that daily.”
One of my great passions in life is traveling. I have been to 38 states, along with Mexico and Canada, but my favorite destinations are the Smoky Mountains and the Southeast coast. I plan to see the New England states and Hawaii in the future, but first Washington State and Oregon are high on my list for the volcanoes and wineries and the Hoh National Rainforest. “God made so much beauty in this country and I plan on seeing everything I can in the time that I’ve been given. Travel changes you and makes you appreciate life.
I am blessed with my son, Philip, a preacher, my daughter-in-law, Cassandra, who works in ministry, and my little grandbuddy, Aiden, who all reside in Joplin, Missouri. My family also consists of a wide-eyed Chihuahua-beagle mix name Viva, and a Siamese mix name Y.Y. Frosty Paws.
I have been part of the Myers Team since December 2015. I was enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard from 2011-2017 as a medic, and have been an animal lover since I was a kid. I have always wanted to work with animals and help them in whatever way that I could.
I have worked in animal care for a few years before finding Myers Animal Clinic, and knew from the start this was where I wanted to continue my work. “I knew from the very first steps I took into that clinic that it would be very special to me. I was immediately drawn into the positive energy surrounding me, and knew I had to be part of it.”
I have one Lab/Staffordshire terrier mix named Clifford, and 2 cats, a shorthair named Missy and a Siamese named Sadie. “The reason I dedicate myself so much to helping animals is because they cannot speak for themselves. They need us to be their voice, to help and be there when they need us the most.”
Yes, I actually work here. I spend most of my time behind the scenes typing up medical records. I am also the “it girl” — that is, the girl of last resort— when another staff member is in need of assistance. I am also known around the clinic as “Amy’s favorite.”
Loves animals and is very dedicated to the success of the clinic.
Outside the clinic, I spend most of my time chasing my two dogs (Maddie Mac & The Mighty Molly) and daughter, Amelia. I am married to my loving husband David for whom I am madly in love with.
I have been with the practice since it began in 2012. Working behind the scenes as bookkeeper for the first several years keeping a low profile as I juggled another full time job. Since 2015, I have been with the practice full time working as the practice manager.
I have been an animal enthusiast since I was a kid, owning many dogs and cats, along with ferrets, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, fish, and snakes though out my lifetime. I use to breed African Cichlids many years ago and miss doing that. My hobbies include dirt bikes, car audio, and my garden during the summer months along with camping and fishing, too.
I am married to Dr. Myers, who was my high school sweetheart for over 20 years. We have a beautiful son together who is now 11 years old and following in his mother’s foot steps to, hopefully, be a veterinarian someday. He says he wants to be a comedian and doing well at that. I have a Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix named Mia and a cat called Speedy Fuzz(Speedy for short, named by my son), because he is fluffy and fast.
I couldn’t be more blessed to have my co-workers who work so hard to help every one of our clients/patients and the many wonderful clients who make this job the best anyone could ever ask for. Thank you!
